Kaylin Parent earns high honors at Utica College

Kaylin Parent was named to the Dean’s High Honor List at Utica College for achieving a perfect 4.0 academic performance during the Fall 2014 semester. Currently in her final year, she is a Psychology major with a Child Life Specialist concentration.

She is a 2010 graduate of Town of Webb School and the daughter of Roger and Pam Parent of Thendara.

Services held for Margaret Pylman Hinman, 93

Funeral services were held January 31 for Margaret Pylman Hinman, 93, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Siegenthaler Center.Hinman Obituary Photo

Margaret was born on August 22, 1921 in Utica, to the late Albert and Anna Tjallama Pylman. In 1923 Margaret’s family moved to Chadwicks and it was then they started Pylman’s Home Bakery. Continue reading

With saddened hearts, we regret that Lansing (Lance/Lanny) Cornish passed away early in the morning, on Monday, February 2, 2015.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Thomas Harper III.

He is survived by his lifelong partner, Alberta Root; his mother Edith Cornish; his sister Anne Jasmin; his niece Alexandria Jasmin; his children Patricia (Tom) Harper and their son Anthony Harper, Gail (Colin) Martin and their children Scott and Kelly Flynn, Paul (Sue) Root, Reneé (Jim) Walls and their son Nicholas Walls; as well as many other friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to Lifetime Assistance Foundation, 425 Paul Rd., Rochester NY 14624, where Lanny worked for many years.

Town of Webb Police Department reports law enforcement activity

The Town of Webb Police Department has issued the following report of recent law enforcement activity.

An investigation into a Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree case led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Lilburn, GA man on December 7, 2014 at 10:30 p.m.

The charge is a class D felony. The investigation was turned over to the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office. Continue reading

Services held for Edward J. Diamond, 88

Edward J. Diamond, 88, of Old Forge, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born on March 2, 1926, in Utica, a son of the late Augustus and Monica (Sobja) Diamond.

He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II.  Continue reading

Sally A. Baird of Old Forge, age 73, passed away on December 15, 2014 at Sunset Nursing following a battle with cancer.

She was born on June 17, 1941 to Judah and Irene Currie of Tully, NY and graduated from Tully Central High School.  Continue reading
