Services held for Edward J. Diamond, 88

Edward J. Diamond, 88, of Old Forge, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born on March 2, 1926, in Utica, a son of the late Augustus and Monica (Sobja) Diamond.

He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II. 

Edward was predeceased by his first wife, Myrtle Raser, who died in 1970. He was later united in marriage to Mary Maio; Mary died on September 16, 2014.

Edward owned and operated Antiques and Articles in Old Forge, a well-known establishment.

He is survived by his children, Mark, Stephanie, John and Catherine. He also leaves seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sobel, and two brothers, Fred Diamond and Gus Diamond.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 31 at AM at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Old Forge. Military honors were offered in church at the conclusion of the Mass.
