Once upon a time a tree lived in the woods. This particular tree had a sacrificial future. It was cut down into a nice little log, transported by PR to a very talented Greg Hunkins, who then cleverly carved the log into a remarkable hot dog where it now welcomes one and all to Lucky Dogs and the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.
Originally the dog log rested in a horizontal position. Many visitors were attracted and eventually spotted snapping pics of the happy fella. Continue reading
The 51st Arch MacDonald Memorial Golf Tournament held Sunday, June 8 at Thendara Golf Club attracted 236 golfers to the annual fund-raising event sponsored by Old Forge American Legion Post 893.
All of the proceeds of the tournament support the legion’s scholarship programs and Wounded Warrior Project. Continue reading
The Old Forge Library invites all to enjoy live music on the library grounds on Friday, June 27 featuring string musician Nick Piccininni.
The performance is part of the library’s “Meet Me at the Library Gazebo at 5” series and will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.
Piccininni will sing many of his own original songs while playing on the acoustic guitar. A self-taught violinist, he learned to play bluegrass at festivals and by joining in picking circles. He has traveled the bluegrass circuit since the age of 13 and toured with The Abrams Brothers, The Atkinsons, The Delaneys, and Floodwood, among others. Continue reading

All are invited to join the Eagle Bay Uplift Society (EBUS) at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the Eagle Bay Fire Hall to discuss updates on improvements to the village of Eagle Bay.
Topics of discussion include the placement of welcome banners along Route 28, the condemnation of a Route 28 property, the status of a sidewalk grant, and fund-raising ideas.
The gathering will be hosted by Eagle Bay Park residents Deb Barry and Laura Lester.

The Old Forge Farmers’ Market, located on Park Ave. behind the Old Forge Hardware, kicks off its seventh season on Friday, June 27th.
