Polar Bear skiers compete in Kombi Race

Polar Bear U10 and U12 alpine racers continued to dominate at a Kombi Race held at Snow Ridge on Saturday, February 22nd. The results in the women’s and men’s divisions were as follows:

U10 Women

1st – Karleigh Hollister

5th – Macie Eisenhart

9th – Mia DiOrio

U10 Men

2nd – Thomas Levi

(Trevor Greene did not finish his first run but had an awesome second run.)

U12 Men

1st – Calvin Barkauskas

2nd – Tyler Kane

Town of Webb Alpine Racers compete at New York State Championships

Racers from the Town of Webb School Alpine Ski Team who were named to the NY State Championship Team competed in the state championships at Bristol Mountain in Canandaigua on Monday and Tuesday, February 24 and 25th.

TOW School Alpine Team: Griffin Kleps, Chloe Barkauskas, Cy Barkauskas, Conner Glasser, Carter Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Ally Cooper, John Gaffney, Lauren Beckingham, Corey Down, Coach Tom Down.

Sixty-three athletes on each of the boys and girls teams, representing eight sections throughout the state, competed in the championships.

In the Girls Slalom, Chloe Barkauskas came in 34th. In the Girls Giant Slalom, Ally Cooper took 30th; Chloe Barkauskas, 31st; and Mara Gaffney, 38th. Continue reading

Webb’s Megan Greene named Section III Nordic Champion

Town of Webb School and Polar Bear nordic skier Megan Greene has been named the women’s individual Sectional III Champion and will compete for the Mid-Atlantic Team in the Junior Nationals at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT from March 1 through 8th.photo 1

She received a nordic medal for placing ninth in the distance skate race at the NY State Championships held in Rochester on Monday, February 24th.

Driving Mister Biden…

Dominick Ventura, a freshman at St. John Fisher College, was selected to be a driver assistant  for a motorcade for Vice President Joseph Biden who had a speaking engagement at Monroe Community College on January 29th.

Upon reaching his destination, the vice president took some time to pose with each of the assisting drivers.

Dominick is the son of Richard and Jennifer Ventura of Port Leyden and the grandson of Larry and Sharon Ventura of Old Forge.
