Anne LaBastille: Twitchell Lake site of public memorial service

A public memorial service for Anne LaBastille, author, photographer and Adirondack guide, will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the shoreline of Twitchell Lake. LaBastille passed away July 1, 2011 in Plattsburgh, NY.

Due to an anticipated large crowd, private cars will not be permitted on site as there is not enough room to accommodate them.

However, shuttles will be available and departing from Eagle Bay regularly. Signs will be posted and attendants will be on-hand to help direct parking and traffic.

Family, close friends and neighbors will be allowed to attend by driving their vehicles or motor their boats to Twitchell Lake dock between 3:30 and 5 p.m. each day, or during the day via the shuttles.

Because the Twitchell Lake boat landing is a small area that is shared with the hiking and boating public, the Memorial site will consist of a treed alcove viewing area of Anne’s cremains, along with pictures of all her dogs, in a forest setting overlooking her beloved Twitchell Lake. Anne’s dog Krispie Kream will be in attendance.

A Memorial Book will be prominently displayed for all to post their comments.

A Memorial Board will also be available for attendees to tack on pictures or other memorabilia.

Attendees will line up to visit the Viewing Altar and pay their personal respects, after which there will be time to converse with others, sign the Memorial Book, and view pictures before returning to the shuttle for a trip back to Eagle Bay.
