Pedals & Petals of Inlet will raise awareness for breast cancer research, treatment, and prevention by hosting a casual, family-friendly bike ride on Saturday, October 10th.
The Breast Cancer Aware-ness Ride, open to men and women of all ages and abilities, will start at Pedals & Petals on Main Street at 10 a.m. and go down South Shore Road towards Old Forge.
Participants can choose between an 11.6-mile or a 20.8-mile loop.
Ride support, ride leaders, and a ride reception will be provided by Pedals and Petals.
Registration is currently open and interested bikers can sign up at on-line at Active.com. The fee is $40.
Registration is also available from 8 to 9:45 a.m. the day of the event. Pre-registrants can pick up their packets and gift bags during that same time period.
The net proceeds of registration fees will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Food will be available before and after the event courtesy of local sponsors, and there will be raffles for some fabulous prizes.
The mission of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer while increasing public awareness about good breast health.
Currently, 91 cents of every dollar donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation go to research and awareness programs.
Every two minutes, a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer and there are nearly three million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. alone.
