Town of Webb: A message to voters from candidate George T. Hiltebrant

I am hoping that you, the voter, will see fit to entrust me with being your councilman on election day.

A lot of you know me, but there are some who don’t. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born and raised in Old Forge. Upon graduating from high school I attended Norwich University, a four-year military school in Northfield, Vermont. When I graduated, I was commissioned a 2nd Lt. and entered the U.S. Army where for two years I trained Officer Candidates.

When I was released from the Army and began my civilian career, I decided to join the Reserves where I served for another 26 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

I started my civilian career as a school teacher and then went to work for Revere Copper and Brass and was the assistant manager of budgets and cost control. I then decided that I wanted to move back to Old Forge because it was my home.

I held several different jobs until 1977 when I became Town Supervisor. I was fortunate enough to hold this position for 25 years. It was the best job that anyone could have asked for. There was never a day that I didn’t want to go to work, and I enjoyed everything that I did and enjoyed very much the people whom I worked with and worked for.

I decided to retire at the end of 2001 for personal reasons. Since then I have served on several boards including the Grievance Board, HASCA, Town Government Master Plan, and the Thendara Golf Club Board of Directors. I also serve on the Town of Webb School Board.

I am fortunate to have two wonderful daughters and four terrific grandsons. They are the loves of my life.

I feel that my experience and knowledge make me one of the best qualified candidates for this position. I hope you will feel the same.

Thank you.

George T. Hiletebrant
