Webb Police Dept. reports recent activity

The Town of Webb Police Department has reported the following recent law enforcement activity.

• A 24-year-old Forestport man was charged with Speed over 55mph (80mph in 55mph zone) DWI 2nd Offense within 10 Years (felony) following an incident that occurred on Sunday, August 16 at 2:35 p.m.

According to the report, a traffic stop on vehicle for speeding on NYS Route 28 resulted in the arrest of the defendant for DWI. Further investigation revealed that defendant has a prior DWI conviction out of the Village of Boonville in 2010.

The defendant was arraigned and released at the Town of Webb Court to return at a later date.

• A 26-year-old Old Forge man was charged with Operating without Insurance (traffic infraction) and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) following an incident that occurred on Friday, August 21 at 3:51 p.m.

According to the report, a traffic stop on defendant on Fulton St. to investigate possible insurance violation resulted in the arrest of said defendant for operating a motor vehicle while registration suspended and for operating a motor vehicle without insurance. The defendant was issued traffic tickets returnable to Town of Webb Court at a later date.

• A 66-year-old Old Forge man was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Failure to Keep Right (drove left of the double lines, drove over hazard lines, refusal to submit to a pre-screen device) following an incident that occurred on Friday, August 21 at 11:19 p.m.

According to the report, the defendant was arrested following a traffic stop whereas the defendant was found to be operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. The defendant was processed and released to appear at a later date in the Town of Webb Court. The defendant will also appear at a later date for a NYS Department of Motor Vehicles refusal hearing.

A 25-year-old Rome, NY man was charged with Unlawfully Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Reckless Operation, and five other vehicle and traffic infractions following an incident that occurred on Saturday, August 22 at 10:40 p.m.

According to the report, Town of Webb Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on two motorcycles on NYS Route 28 for several traffic infractions when one of the operators failed to comply and fled police to Oneida County. Through investigation, Webb Police determined the identity of the defendant.

The defendent turned himself in at the Webb Police Station and was released on an appearance ticket.
