The Central Adirondack Sailing Association (CASA) continued its 2015 summer sailing season with two races on July 11, mid-lake on the South Shore of Fourth Lake.
While there were only four boats, the gusty winds and close competition made the race very exciting for the sailors and the fans watching.
In the first race Tom McCabe and Carey Lorraine were victorious, with Paul Willsey and Butch Hartsig in second, Nate Wilsey and Erin Zimmerman in third, and John Jeffrey and Dave Slater in fourth.
In the second race, the Wilsey/Hartsig combination were first, with Wilsey/Zimmerman in second and McCabe/Lorraine in third.
CASA and Flying Scott Fleet 104, based on Fourth Lake, are excited to be hosting two special events this summer.
On July 26, CASA will be hosting the annual Sunfish Regatta at Palmer Point at noon.
All Sunfish sailors are invited to come out and participate.
Palmer Point is excited to be part of this Regatta, with the hopes of bringing back Sunfish racing on Fourth Lake.
No registration is required but we encourage all sunfish sailors to put the date on their calendar!
Secondly, Flying Scott Fleet 104 will be hosting the New York Lakes District Championship the weekend of August 15 with races on Saturday and Sunday.
The last time Fleet 104 hosted this event was in 1997 and the fleet is looking forward to bringing back this exciting round of races.
Up to 20 Flying Scots are expected from Fourth Lake as well as all over upstate New York.
The event will be based primarily out of the North Woods Inn area of Fourth Lake.
The regular racing season will continue through August 29 with two races every Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
The only exception to this schedule will be the weekend of the District Championship on August 15.
All types of sailboats are welcome to join and Sunfish sailors are particularly encouraged.
