The Covey-Pashley American Legion Post 893 and Sons of the American Legion in Old Forge held an installation of officers for 2015 to 2016 at a dinner meeting held Thursday, June 25.
Elected Legion officers are: Commander Bill Ransom, 1st Vice Commander Bob Dibble, 2nd Vice Commander Vinnie Dolan, 3rd Vice Commander Brad Birnie, Adjutant Fred Ehrensbeck, Financial Officer George Meeker, Service Officer Eugene Melnyczuk, Chaplain Mike Tigue, Historian Tom Ryan, and Sergeant at Arms Lou Salin.
The Sons of American Legion officers are: Commander Lance Maly, 1st Vice Commander Tim Centola, 2nd Vice Commander Bob Teesdale, 3rd Vice Commander Bob Gates, Adjutant John Tormey, Chaplain Mike Pashley, Historian Dennis Tofani, Treasurer Joe Guido, Sgt. at Arms Bob Schueler and Advisor James Foley.
Prior to the meeting Town of Webb School graduates were awarded scholarships that were made possible by the Legion Post 893, the Sons of the American Legion and Post 893 Ladies Auxiliary.
Alexis Dolan received the Past Commander Michael Burke Scholarship and Tecwyn Williams received the Ivan Kaye Memorial Scholarship. Connor Glasser and Melissa Murphy were the recipients of Legion Post 893 Scholarships.
Kalyn Olney received the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 893 Scholarship.
The Legion Auxiliary Scholarships were awarded to winner Allyson Brosemer and runners-up Briana Brownsell, Mackenzie Kelly and Autumn Townsend.
Elections for officers of the Legion Auxiliary were held at an earlier date. Officers are: President Diane Tigue, Vice President Linda Kurtz, Secretary Arlene Bolmer, Treasurer Lynda Kellogg, Chaplain Marian Gibson, Historian Kathy Riehle, Sgt. at Arms Barb Winslow.
