The Covey-Pashley American Legion Post 893 and Sons of the American Legion in Old Forge  held an installation of officers for 2015 to 2016 at a dinner meeting held Thursday, June 25.

Elected Legion officers are: Commander Bill Ransom, 1st Vice Commander Bob Dibble, 2nd Vice Commander Vinnie Dolan, 3rd Vice Commander Brad Birnie, Adjutant Fred Ehrensbeck, Financial Officer George Meeker, Service Officer Eugene Melnyczuk, Chaplain Mike Tigue, Historian Tom Ryan, and Sergeant at Arms Lou Salin. Twenty-five students graduated from the Town of Webb School in a commencement ceremony held in the school gymnasium on Friday, June 26.

Valedictorian was Briana Brownsell and Salutatorian was Mackenzie Kelly.

Patrick Venetz graduates from Norwich University

Patrick Venetz

Patrick H. Venetz graduated cum laude from Norwich University of Northfield, VT on Saturday, May 9, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.

In attendance were his parents, Nancy and Patrick Venetz of Thendara, and his brother Casey who traveled from Kansas City, KS.

While enrolled at Norwich, Venetz was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a rigorous, structured program that prepares cadets to become leaders in the Armed Forces and civilian career fields.

He hopes to commission in the U.S. Coast Guard this fall.

Inlet Common School Students participate in graduation ceremony, choral concert

The Inlet Common School held its annual graduation ceremony and choral concert Tuesday, June 24th at Saint Anthony’s church hall. SONY DSC

Johanna Lutz, Natalie Brownsell, and Rianna Lindsay—three young ladies who attended Inlet K-6—walked across the stage to receive diplomas in recognition of their years of hard work. They will make the transition into 7th grade at the Town of Webb in the fall. SONY DSC

The kindergarten class made up of Alayna Nerschook, Ethan Quinn, Thomas Miller, Joseph Clark, and Preston Trumbauer also received diplomas in honor of completing their first year of school. SONY DSC

Prior to the graduation ceremony, students K-6 performed a selection Disney songs under the direction of Tom Helmer.

Debbie Daiker’s 5th and 6th grade class rounded out the show with a choreographed dance to music from the movie Cars. SONY DSC

Town of Webb Kindergarten Class holds graduation ceremony

First-year Town of Webb School kindergarten teacher Hannah Payne launched a new tradition at the school by organizing a graduation ceremony for her students on Friday, June 20th.

A graduation ceremony for the four year old students enrolled in the  Kinderwood Preschool Class of 2013 was held at Gould Hall at View on Saturday, June 1.

Among those in attendance was Kinderwood founder Miriam Kashiwa who has not missed a graduation in the preschool’s 44 years.
