Raquette Lake: Winter Carnival slated for February 13, 14, 15

The Raquette Lake Winter Carnival will begin Friday, February 13 at 5 p.m. at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall with an all-you-can-eat Pasta Dinner.

The meal is $10 and includes assorted pastas, salad, garlic bread and dessert.

Take out is available. Proceeds will benefit the Raquette Lake Ladies Softball Team.  

On Saturday, February 14, spend Valentine’s Day participating in a fun day of winter events in and around the Raquette Lake village.

Youth activities start at 11 a.m. and includes a snowshoe relay, snow dodgeball, Tug-o-War, sledding, a balloon chase, and sack races.

The Ladies Frying Pan Toss begins at noon with registration at the Raquette Lake Library. Other activities include Ice Golf on Raquette Lake, a burning bonfire all day and fireworks at darkness.

Cookie donations are welcome on Saturday and can be dropped off at the Raquette Lake Library where revelers can stop by throughout the day to enjoy the treats with a cup of hot chocolate.

Also on Saturday, take a 3.5 mile snowshoeing hike around Sagamore Lake.

Meet at 1 p.m. at the tour parking lot at Great Camp Sagamore (take a left at the fork at the end of the road) to meet staff members who will lead the hike.

Sunday’s events kick off with an all-u-can-eat Pancake Breakfast at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. The fee is $7 per person.

The event is hosted by Raquette Lake Ladies Auxiliary.

The annual Cross-Cut/ Chainsaw Competition will begin at noon on the Raquette Lake Village Green.

This long-standing traditional event features timed men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.
