The fourth weekend of sailboat races were held by the Central Adirondack Sailing Association (CASA) on Saturday, August 2 off the south shore of Fourth Lake.
Even with approaching ominous-looking storm clouds, the sailors completed two races before the rain started.
Battling an unusual northeast winder, the Steigerwald/ Jeffrey boat had the best outing of the day with a first and third place.
Tom P. McCabe with nephew Chris Cowles also had a consistently strong day, capturing second place in both races.
My sister, Carey Lorraine, and I were happy to beat our brother Tom in the second race, taking a first place.
Also completing both races were Duffy Zornow with son Patrick, Paul Willsey with crew Butch Hartsig, Frank Belknap with crew Paul Chambers and Chris Eichar welcomed experienced sunfish sailor, Jake Westedt, as his crew.
CASA thanks race committee members Tom and Marge McCabe and Meg and Charlie Lorraine for their efforts.
CASA will be hosting a Sunfish Regatta on Sunday, August 10 at 1 p.m. at Palmer Point. All sunfish sailors are welcome.
The regular season will continue through August 16 with two races every Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
All types of sailboats are welcome to join and Sunfish sailors are particularly encouraged both in the regatta and in the regular weekly races.
