New bike racks, signage made possible by Herkimer County grant to Old Forge

The new bike racks that have been placed at various locations throughout Old Forge area were made possible through $4,200 in funds awarded to the Town of Webb through a Herkimer County Creating Healthy Places Complete Streets grant.bike rack1

The grant was submitted on behalf of the Town by the CAP-21 community grants program for the purchase of bike racks, pedestrian crossing and informational signage.

The intent of the grant was to increase walking and cycling opportunities throughout the Town by providing safer street crossings and bike racks that promote access to other recreational assets within the community.

Racks have been placed at such locations as McCauley Mountain, Adirondack Scenic Railroad, TOW Information Office, George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center, the Maple Ridge Trail and the Town Beach, among other locations.
