The Town of Inlet will celebrate its 13th consecutive year of National Trails Day hikes with a hike to Lost Pond and Helldiver Pond in the Moose River Plains Recreation Area on Saturday, June 7th.
Anyone wishing to take the hike can meet Mitch Lee at the Inlet Information Office at 9 a.m.
Participants should dress accordingly for the hike, wear proper footwear, pack a lunch, and bring bug repellent. Continue reading

North Woods Lodge #849 F&AM and Dewey Old Forge Chapter #449 OES will be manning the grills and cooking up 200 meals at the Chicken BBQ during Neighbor Day at View on Sunday, June 8th.
Dinner includes a half chicken, potato salad, beans, roll, dessert, and drink and is available from noon to 4 p.m. or until it is sold-out. The cost is $12 and pre-reservations will be accepted by contacting Jan Park at (315) 369-6889.
Most of the wild weather just missed us, but the seven inches of rain that fell in three hours over in Port Leyden was too much for lots of folks. That much rain in such a short period of time would be way too much for most places to handle as it makes rivers where there weren’t any to begin with.
The crazy weather continues all over the world not just here in the U.S., with floods in some places and drought in others.

Ticket holders for the View benefit at the Albedor on Saturday, June 14 will have the opportunity to take a shuttle bus to the event. Limited seats are available by calling View at (315) 369-6411, ext. 201.
The bus, provided by Town of Webb School, will depart from View at 4:30 p.m. and return at 7 p.m. Other patrons who will be attending the event are encouraged to carpool from View as parking is limited at the venue. Continue reading
A Spaghetti Dinner will be held at Randy’s Restaurant at 2918 Route 28 in Old Forge on Monday, June 9 as a benefit for local resident Lucy Walker who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. The cost is $8 and includes salad and bread, with an additional fee of $2 for a meatball or sausage. Take-outs are welcome and delivery service within Old Forge is available.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from the dinner will assist with Lucy’s travel and medical expenses.
The Polar Bear Ski Club’s annual tent sale will be held on Saturday, June 7th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lot across from Randy’s Restaurant at 2918 State Rte 28.
Donations can be dropped off and left under the tent. All proceeds from the sale support the Polar Bear youth alpine, biathlon and nordic ski programs.
