The Forestport Town Board adopted a resolution designed to clarify eligibility requirements for town employees as it relates to the town’s group health insurance plan.
The resolution was approved unanimously at the board’s November 18th monthly meeting.
Health plan eligibility changes were made on November 19, 2014 when the Board resolved to increase the minimum annual salary amount to $10,000. Continue reading

The Town of Webb Union Free School District (UFSD) opened the polls to voters on Tuesday, May 19 to determine the fate of the district’s proposed $8,783,340 budget for the 2015–16 school year.
Voters approved the budget with 178 voting in favor, while 37 voted in opposition.
The approval of the budget authorizes district officials to levy taxes on properties within the Town of Webb UFSD to offset the budget’s expenditures. Continue reading

A report issued by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli shows that the Town of Webb Union Free School District has bucked a statewide trend in fiscal year 2014–15 by budgeting within the two percent tax cap—a tough feat for districts receiving lesser state aid amounts.
Specifically, the report found that low- and average-need districts—those tending to receive less state aid—are twice as likely to override the tax cap, as compared to high-need districts. Continue reading
An Open Letter to Town of Forestport Taxpayers:
Prior to the Town of Forestport’s Fiscal Year 2014, the amount budgeted for it was $1,019,279.94.
At the close of fiscal year 2014, with final costs determined, the Town of Forestport was found to have operated for just $811,292.95.
That is $207,986.99 under budget for 2014. Continue reading
The Town of Webb Board believes a Senior Activity Program is needed in Old Forge, and it is committed to getting one off the ground, according to Councilwoman Mary Brophy Moore.

Initially, $7,800 has been budgeted by the Town for 2015.

The tentative 2012 Herkimer County budget of $95.2 million was passed by the county legislature on Wed-nes–day, December 14 after a fifteen-to-one vote, with only Legislator Helen Rose in District 2 of the Village of Herkimer in opposition.
The 2012 budget represents an .8 percent increase from the 2011 budget and includes an average tax rate increase of 3.1 percent.
The budget increase, according to Herkimer County Administrator James W. Wallace, Jr., is largely due to the rise in assessed property values throughout the county, a decrease in revenue received through PILOT programs, an increase in the cost of Medicaid, recent changes to the Welfare system, the rising numbers of Baby Boomers who are now reaching retirement age, and loss of government stimulus.
