“We hit a home run with this year’s Paddlefest,” said John Nemjo of Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co., who has brought the event to the area for the last 14 years.

Worth researching: Junk furniture may be unexpected treasure by Jon Hansen

I have been restoring furniture for many years and what brought this to mind is the table that I worked on for Rick and Julie Hunkins.

Many people have older pieces of furniture like this in a garage or in a barn or put aside and don’t realize its value or that today’s furniture doesn’t have the same quality of these older pieces.

This particular table is more of a Victorian style—circa mid-1880s to late 1890s.

There were no markings or dates under the table but I can see by the style and construction that it brings it to that date.

With the style of it and being made of solid ashwood, restoring it has turned it into a gorgeous piece that can be passed on through the family as an heirloom. Continue reading

Card of Thanks

Thanks Ted Riehle, Town of Webb Supervisor, for taking the time to answer my questions on certain matters. You are a busy man and with all the current Town business you are under the gun from all angles!

Thanks for seeing that what I had to say mattered to me, and having me come to the bill paying session so I could voice my concerns that evening. You could have just given me the brush-off, but you didn’t.

Thanks for making the time for me at the meeting and actually standing by me while I presented my case. Whether the outcome is in my favor or not, you made me feel like I was heard, and for that I thank you.

Bill Brooker, Old Forge
