Central Adirondack Assn. to hold its Spring Fling on Thursday, June 6th

The Central Adirondack Association (CAA) is inviting all members and non-members to its annual Spring Fling social gathering. The event will take place on Thursday, June 6, from 6 p.m. at the Big Moose Inn, hosted by owners Mark and Susan Mayer.

Hot and cold appetizers will be served for $10 per person, and a cash bar will be open.

“It’s an annual CAA event, an opportunity for people to come together before the busy summer season,” said Gary Staab, CAA membership chairman. “It’s a great time to network with other businesses and find out about events we sponsor, as well as the many contributions we make to community organizations who request donations.”

Idea sharing is something that Staab, as a long-term local business owner, has found useful in CAA meetings.

Annual membership fees are $75/business. These funds are used for advertising in The Vacation Planner and other resources which encourage people to come to the area. Advertising on the CAA website is available to members and nonmembers alike.

Examples of events sponsored by the CAA are Polkafest coming up this weekend, followed by Thunder in the Forge, the annual Fathers’ Day frog jumping and ugly tie contests, the boat show, the antique car show…a multitude of events which come up on a regular basis. These are designed to bring people to the area.

Some of these, such as Polkafest and Snodeo, are signature events hosted solely by the CAA, while others are co-sponsored, according to Staab.

“As a member, you can help with contribution of ideas and planning, improving quality of life for the Town of Webb and surrounding areas,” he said.

The Spring Fling is a great opportunity for area business owners to network and discuss the upcoming summer season. CAA officers will be on hand to answer questions regarding the CAA, as well as their upcoming events and marketing plans.

The CAA meets monthly, sometimes in the morning, at the town offices, and some months in the evening, at varied venues.

Those who are not members but are interested in what the CAA does and how a membership could benefit them are encouraged to attend. Current members are encouraged to bring a guest. To RSVP, please call the Old Forge Information Center at 369-6983.
