New York state is offering a cooling program for those who are in medical need of an air conditioner but do not currently own a working unit.
The program begins April 1 and runs through August 30, 2013. This is a first come, first served program that will end earlier than August 30 should funds run out.
In order to qualify, you must live in Herkimer County, be over the age of 60, HEAP eligible, and able to get an order from your doctor because of a medical need.
Income guidelines are as follows: Household of one – $2,138; Household of two – $2,796; Household of three – $3,453
