Webb School Senior Spotlight

Katie Connell leaning toward early childhood development studies

High school senior Katie Connell would like to attend SUNY Plattsburgh following June graduation. And though she has not decided on a major, she is leaning towards Early Childhood Development because she enjoys being around kids.

She has lived in Old Forge since she began kindergarten and says she likes it here because she knows everybody.

She enjoys math, and chorus with Valerie Gaudin and has played the alto saxophone in band since the fourth grade.

Active in school sports, she has been a member of the soccer, basketball and softball teams.

“It keeps me busy all three seasons,” she said.

Connell is a member of Key Club, Varsity Club, Travel Club, National Honor Society and Drama Production Club.

She was a member of the chorus in the high school musicals Grease, Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes, and Bye Bye Birdie.

Her other interests include, hanging out with friends and watching sporting events.

She said she will be very excited on graduation day because she will soon be leaving for college. “But I’m going to miss everyone here.”

She is the daughter of Kathy and Kevin Connell of Thendara and has a younger brother, Jimmy.
