Webb School Senior Spotlight

Hallie Christodaro to focus on developmental psychology in college

Town of Webb High School senior Hallie Christodaro attended the Inlet Common School from kindergarten through sixth grade before transferring to Town of Webb in seventh grade.

Her high school interests have included volleyball, which she has participated in since the seventh grade,  playing clarinet in band, and the subject of developmental psychology.

Hallie said she would like to study the subject further following her June 2013 graduation and has applied to Cayuga County Community College in Auburn.

To prepare for her college studies she is currently taking part in the Educational Studies Career Opportunities (ESCO) program at school and works with students of Mrs. Hannah’s and Mrs. Brosemer’s.

She said she has wanted to help kids with disabilities since she can remember, and that it’s a great feeling to see what the students can accomplish despite their disabilities and restrictions.

With a degree in Develop-mental Psychology she will qualify to work in rehab clinics or schools, or with teenagers, “but I want to work with young kids to get them on track and to encourage them not to give up,” she said.

Outside of school, Hallie’s favorite hobby is digital photography.

“I like taking pictures, especially of nature and animals. It expresses how I feel about things,” she said.

And though she occasionally goes snowboarding at McCauley Mountain, she admits she doesn’t really like winter—but she loves Florida and the ocean.

“I go there in the spring and summer for a couple of weeks to visit my aunt and uncle and I just lay in the sun all day,” she said.

Following two years at CCCC, she said hopes to transfer to a college in Florida where she would eventually like to settle.

Hallie is a member of the Kiwanis Key Club and her favorite teacher is Family Consumer Science Teacher Diane Amos.

“She always helps me when I need it,” she said.

Her work experience outside of school includes helping out at her family’s Inlet shop, Pedals & Petals, and at Screamen Eagle, also in Inlet.

Hallie said she has enjoyed her years at Town of Webb School but is looking forward to graduating.

“The best thing is that you can talk to any teacher if you are having any problems. You couldn’t do that in a bigger school. I’m going to be really happy about graduating though. I’m excited to see what the real world is like,” she said.

Hallie is the daughter of Gordi and Ted Christodaro of Inlet, and the granddaughter of Linda and Bob Gordon, also of Inlet.
