Walt Throne, owner of Walt’s Hobby, Inc. of Syracuse, was inducted into the Academy of Model Aeronautics National Hall of Fame on July 16.
The honor, which includes an award plaque, is based upon extraordinary service and contributions to the model hobby community and industry.
Throne was presented his award at the 75th Anniversary of the organization in Muncie, Indiana.
He is a summer resident of Old Forge and is one of only 309 inductees since the awards inception.
His wife Jan was present at the award presentation.
He is a member of the Mountain Radio Control Club in Old Forge and of the Aero Radio Club of Syracuse.
He is also event director of the annual Mountain Radio Control Club’s annual Radio Control Modelers Air Show that will be presented on Saturday, July 30 at the North Street Airfield in Old Forge.
