Six area Polar Bear Ski Club racers competed at the Kandahar Championships at Whiteface Mountain on Sunday, March 4th.
Ally Cooper, Hannah Kane, Blake Greene, Calvin Barkauskas, Tyler Kane and Adam Levi were among the 138 qualifying racers from across New York state who competed in the races.
To qualify for advancement beyond the Kandahar Champion-ships, racers from each J5, J4, and J3 class had to place in the top six—or end up in sixth place overall—to qualify for competition at the Piche Invitational at Gunstock Mountain Resort in New Hampshire on Saturday, March 17. For the girls, Allyson Cooper placed 10th in her class, and Hannah Kane placed 22nd.
For the boys, Blake Greene placed 7th, Calvin Barkauskas placed 16th, Tyler Kane placed 28th and Adam Levi placed 15th overall.
Adam was named to the NYSSRA race team due to his second place finish in the first run at the Whiteface race and will compete at the Piche Invitational on St. Patrick’s Day.
