Winners named for 2011 Antique/Classic Boat Show

A brand new dock welcomed 57 antique boats to the 21st annual Antique Boat Show on the Old Forge waterfront on Saturday, July 9.

Boats traveled from as far as Florida, Virginia and Maryland as well as all over New York state to participate in the show.

Perfect weather helped make it an enjoyable and successful event for participants and observers alike.

Awards were presented at a dinner on Saturday night to these winners:

Alexander Stuart from Eagle Bay for “Josephine,” a 1914 Fay and Bowen in the Historic Class;

David McEwen of Palmyra for “Queeny,” a 1938 Chris Craft in the Antique Class;

Leigh Frackelton of Richmond, VA for “Leigh II,” a 1951 Chris Craft in the Classic Utility Class;

Ann and Neil Satterly of Schenectady for “Tahawus,” a 1948 Chris Craft in the Classic Runabout Class;

Dave Blum from Bergen for “Tess,” a 1956 Penn Yan in the outboard class; Bill Hood from Easton, MD for “Rascal,” a homemade runabout in the land display class; and

Tim and Lynn Durkin of Inlet for “Tadpole II,” a 2007 electric launch in both the Contemporary Classic and the exhibitors Overall Favorite classes.

The Antique and Classic Boat Society award for the Best Preserved boat at this year’s show was presented to Dave Blum of Bergen for “Tess,” a 1956 Penn Yan.

The Paul Hornick Memorial Award was given this year to Tom Maltby for his many contributions to all of the annual Old Forge Antique Boat Shows.

A special congratulations goes to Bonnie Saunders of Geneva for winning the raffle for a framed print, Triple Cockpit Collage by artist JC Parker.
