Old Forge Fire Dept. announces winning parade entries

Fire personnel from around the state came to Old Forge to take part in the 45th Annual Firefighters Drill School last weekend.

The weekend included classroom and outdoor instruction, a memorial service in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, and a firefighters parade up Main Street.

Following the parade, trophies were awarded to fire companies in the following categories:

Best Appearing Department with Music: Brighton Fire Department. Best Appearing Department without Music: 1st – Fuller Road, 2nd – Chatham, 3rd – Shaker Road, Loudonville. Best Appearing Saluting Officer: Verona.

Best Appearing Auxiliary: 1st – Cedarville, 2nd – Shaker Road, Loudonville, 3rd – Chatham. Best Appearing Color Guard:Oriskany  Best Appearing Apparatus: Sylvan Beach Best Appearing Antique Apparatus: Westmoreland Oldest Antique Apparatus: Forestport Furthest Distance Traveled: Goodwill (New Jersey)

Most Men in Line of March: Fuller Road Best Appearing Veterans Group:Whitestown American Legion Junior Firefighter Group: Shaker Road, Loudonville

Winners of the Push Ball Competition held on Friday were: 1st – Fairmont 2nd – Eagle Bay 3rd – Cicero
