Fire personnel from around the state came to Old Forge to take part in the 45th Annual Firefighters Drill School last weekend.
The weekend included classroom and outdoor instruction, a memorial service in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, and a firefighters parade up Main Street.
Following the parade, trophies were awarded to fire companies in the following categories:
Best Appearing Department with Music: Brighton Fire Department. Best Appearing Department without Music: 1st – Fuller Road, 2nd – Chatham, 3rd – Shaker Road, Loudonville. Best Appearing Saluting Officer: Verona.
Best Appearing Auxiliary: 1st – Cedarville, 2nd – Shaker Road, Loudonville, 3rd – Chatham. Best Appearing Color Guard:Oriskany Best Appearing Apparatus: Sylvan Beach Best Appearing Antique Apparatus: Westmoreland Oldest Antique Apparatus: Forestport Furthest Distance Traveled: Goodwill (New Jersey)
