Following are the words of Town of Webb Police Chief Ron Johnston, that were given at a ceremony on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, in recognition of three of his officers.
—
I am awarding three commendations to Town of Webb Police Officers for their exemplary service to the citizens of Webb and as representatives of the Town of Webb Police Department during 2015. I have placed letters in their personnel files detailing their awards.
I recognize Officer Kevin Birtle as the Town of Webb Officer of the Year for 2015.
Officer Birtle is an asset to me, his fellow officers, and to the department as a whole. He regularly goes above and beyond duty and expectation, works and thinks ‘outside the box,’ and assumes tasks and responsibilities without being asked.
Officer Birtle is an example of a team player and puts the needs of the department, community, and fellow officers ahead of his own.
Officer Birtle is held in high esteem within the police department and the community for good reason, and is to be commended for his service.
Fellow officers and community members alike look to Officer Birtle as an example and guide, and he rises to the occasion readily and consistently.
I recognize Officer Trevor Tormey for Meritorious Service for the year 2015.
Officer Tormey displays a high degree of initiative in his service to the Town of Webb Police Department. He displays professionalism on a constant basis and is exemplary in the performance of his duties.
Officer Tormey and his partner, K9 Kimber, are a valuable resource to the department; their specialized training is a true asset.
He is a community-minded individual and proficient in his duties as a law enforcement officer, K9 handler, and representative of the Town of Webb Police Department.
I recognize Officer Cody Luebbert for Professionalism in Vehicle and Traffic Enforcement.
Officer Luebbert is persistent in his use of the vehicle and traffic laws as a law enforcement tool. Per his training, he utilizes vehicle and traffic laws to access higher level crime, making the community and roads safer for law abiding citizens.
In the same turn, Officer Luebbert realizes when a situation calls for a warning and avoids issuing unwarranted tickets. He displays professionalism and sound judgement and treats people cordially and with respect.
Officer Luebbert has performed in outstanding manner, displaying the characteristics necessary to successfully and fairly enforce the law.

These officers perform their duties in exemplary fashion and deserve the recognition and appreciation of their superior officer, supervisor, and board members, as well as the community.
