The 22nd Annual Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race took place on Tues-day, September 15, 2015. More money was raised for this local charity event than ever before, breaking records for the fourth year in a row.
This year’s total raised was $18,000, $4,600 more than 2014’s record-breaking total. This year’s race benefactors, the Mission Boutique Building Project of Niccolls Church and the Old Forge Fire Department Lifeline will each receive $9,000 for their organizations.
Forty-two teams and 210 racers from Thendara to Indian Lake competed for the coveted trophy in 63 races. An additional 370 spectator admissions, 50/50 raffle, beverage sales and tips, contributed to the overall event fundraising.
The money was solely raised by community participation, which is a true accomplishment for the region.
First place in the race went to Dunn’s Boat Service with 36 points, second place went to Adirondack Garage with 34 points and there was a tie for third place at 31 points each for Eskimo Strong and Daiker’s Ding-A-Lings.
