The Old Forge Fitness Center, a new full-service health facility, has emerged from the North Street space that for decades housed the local bowling lanes.
Owners Lisa, Chris and Brian Murphy of Old Forge have transformed the 5,000 square foot space, adding a full circuit of state-of-the art Precor™ cardio and weight equipment—including treadmills, ellipticals and rowers—a free weight section, and an abundance of additional health and fitness options.
Flat screen TVs hang from the walls and ceiling and piped in music enhances the workout experience.
Locker rooms are complete with showers.
In an effort to preserve previous elements of the bowling alley, wood from the lanes has been repurposed as seating benches throughout the facility.
Chris and Brian will offer orientation to members to get them fully acquainted with the selectorized equipment, and also provide personal training to those interested in the additional service.
Other current auxiliary services include a vertical tanning bed, with teeth whitening option; a dance studio for group fitness classes; massage therapy; and Deep Tissue Laser Therapy—a non-surgical, drug-free alternative treatment to manage pain.
Deep Tissue Laser Therapy can treat muscle spasms and pain in joints, lumbar and sciatic, wrist, lower back, foot and ankle.
Lisa offered a testimonial to the effectiveness of laser therapy having been relieved of chronic foot pain due to Plantar Fasciitis—an inflammation of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes—following treatments in Florida.
Among the upcoming services will be physical therapy, pilates and other dance fitness classes.
Also, Chris and Brian said they are excited to be working with Town of Webb School coaches to provide pre-season training for their athletes.
Weekly, monthly and annual memberships are available, with introductory rates currently in effect. Memberships are as low as $1 per day.
Old Forge Fitness Center is unique in that it offers 24-hour access to its members; entry is gained with a key fob for off-hours workouts.
Staffed hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Though the finishing touches of the entranceway are currently being completed, the center is up and running and the Murphys welcome all to stop by and discover the current and upcoming fitness opportunities available.
