The Central Adirondack Sailing Association (CASA) kicked off the 2015 summer sailing season with two races on July 5th in front of the Woods Inn on Fourth Lake.
The sailors enjoyed light to medium winds, an exciting course, and perfect weather out on the water.
In the first race Paul Willsey and Geoff Towell narrowly edged out Tom and Teddy McCabe for first and second place respectively.
With another photo finish, Liz Cowles and Carey Lorraine crossed the line less than a foot ahead of Mark Steigerwald and John Jeffery for third and fourth places.
Wayne Menz and Patty Entreegain came in fifth place.
In the second leg, Cowles/ Lorraine captured first, with Tom McCabe and Chris Cowles taking second.
Steigerwald/Jeffery were third place and Paul Willsey with crew Frank Belknap placed fourth place. The Menz boat repeated its fifth place finish.
CASA and Flying Scott Fleet 104, based on Fourth Lake, are excited to be hosting two special events this summer.
On July 26th, CASA will be hosting a Sunfish Regatta at Palmer Point at noon.
All Sunfish sailors are invited to come out and participate.
Palmer Point is excited to be part of this Regatta, with the hopes of bringing back Sunfish racing on Fourth Lake.
No registration is required but we encourage all sunfish sailors to put the date on their calendar!
Secondly, Flying Scott Fleet 104 will be hosting the New York Lakes District Championship the weekend of August 15th with races on Saturday and Sunday.
The last time Fleet 104 hosted this event was in 1997 and the fleet is looking forward to bringing back this exciting round of races.
Up to twenty Flying Scots are expected from Fourth Lake as well as all over upstate NY.
The event will be based primarily out of the North Woods Inn area of Fourth Lake.
The regular racing season will continue through August 29 with two races every Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
The only exception to this schedule will be the weekend of the District Championship on August 15.
All types of sailboats are welcome to join and Sunfish sailors are particularly encouraged.
