Donna Myers, President of the Covey-Pashley #893 American Legion Auxiliary of Old Forge, presented the Mary Russell Continuing Education Scholarship to Amanda Perkins on Thursday, August 25th.
Amanda, the daughter of Pat and Carol Perkins of Old Forge, is continuing her education at Syracuse University this fall where she is a senior majoring in Public Health.
She is a graduate of the Town of Webb School.
The scholarship is named in honor of Mary Russell who was a member of the Auxiliary for more than 30 years and was a great advocate of higher learning.
It is presented every year to any student who has completed their first year in college, trade school or technical school and plans to continue their education in the fall.
