VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, will celebrate the opening of four new exhibitions with a public reception on Saturday, January 17.

Paradigm Shift: Visual Reflection by Old Forge artist Robert Imundo, is a fantastical body of work that draws on dreams, surrealism, and mysticism. In a series of oil paintings and graphite drawings Imundo creates a world where rocks float and trees grow as mirrored images of thems. The exhibit will be on display from January 10 through May 24.

Branches, by Alice Valenti, is comprised of a series of small landscapes in graphite, ink, gouache, colored pencil and charcoal.

The works are representational in nature, yet function as visual mementoes that incorporate elements of documentation, memory and imagination within their creation.

Valenti, a Baltimore, MD-based artist and educator,  was the winner of VIEW’s 2014 Winter Air exhibit. Her current exhibit will be on display from January 10 through April 5.

Reality Check, a national juried exhibition that features 19 artists from throughout the U.S., focuses on mastery of illusion. The subject matter of the 30 featured paintings and photographs touches on everything from the mundane to the extraordinary. The exhibit will be on display from January 17 through April 5.

Fun with Function is the first solo exhibition by VIEW’s first-ever artist in residence, Sarah M. Banker.

Banker, in residence since May 2014, works daily in the pottery studio.

Her new body of work includes whimsical animal creations, in clay, that are sculptural in nature, while maintaining a functional element within their form. It will be on display from January 17 through April 5.

The reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and refreshments and light fare will be served.
