10th Annual ‘Paddle for the Cure’ set in Old Forge on Sept. 20th

Paddle for the Cure, a breast cancer awareness event held in support of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY, Inc., will be held at Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company on Saturday, September 20th.

The event, celebrating its 10th anniversary, features a leisurely paddle on the Moose River.

This will be the sixth consecutive year that Mountain-man has sponsored Paddle for the Cure.

Last year hundreds of paddlers raised close to $30,000 for breast cancer research.

“The Paddle for the Cure has raised over $100,000 for breast cancer research. Since the event moved here to Old Forge it has grown every year. We’re looking forward to another record breaking year!” said John Nemjo, president of Moun-tainman.

The Paddle for the Cure will begin at 10 a.m. The day-long event also includes live music and a cookout.

Janice Sell of Upstate Medical University Hospital, event organizer, noted that pre-registrations have been going well and that they are looking forward to another great year.

“It’s hard to believe this will be our tenth year! Everyone really loves coming to Old Forge, and we all look forward to it each year,” Sell said.

Nemjo added, “The Moose River is a great choice for Paddle for the Cure. It is a beautiful river that is suitable for all levels and ages of paddlers.”
