The members of the Inlet Golf Club Men’s League wrapped up their season of play following three recent golf outings.
The league division title held on Monday, August 18 was won by Brad Damon of Inlet after a three-man playoff, edging out Bill Faro of Inlet and Pat Perkins of Old Forge in a match that went down to the last hole.
Bob Philipson of Old Forge regained his gross division title on Tuesday, August 19 by defeating Tom Slocum of Eagle Bay in a closely contested 9-hole playoff that also went down to the last hole of play.
The end of season four-man scramble was held on Monday, August 25. Finishing first with a score of 64 was the team of Sam Crocker, Sid Payne, Bill Humphrey and Bill Faro.
Taking second place with a score of 66 was the team of Bob Philipson, Terry Ritz, Carmen Mastroianni and John Nicholson.
In third place was the team of Jim Holt, Tom McCabe, Walt Throne and Phil Sanzone with a score of 67, which was determined by comparison of cards.
The event ended with a dinner at Mulligan’s Restaurant at the golf club.
In lieu of giving awards this season, league members voted to make a $500 donation to the Roland Christy, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund. The winners of the skins match followed suit and donated their proceeds to the fund as well, making a total donation of $660 to the fund.
Anyone wishing to donate to the fund can make a check payable to The Community Foundation, referencing the Roland Christy, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund.
