The One Square Mile of Hope committee wants to say thank you to Dean and Donna Pohl of Raquette Lake Navigation for offering their family, boat, staff, and food for the cruise.

Their efforts and generosity resulted in $4,500 being raised for our cause: breast cancer research. It was a perfect evening on every level—weather, food, service, and friends. cruise for hope 2

Connie Perry, Co-Chair of One Square Mile of Hope, commented:

“What an amazing evening and great community support. Thanks so much to the Pohl family for providing such a wonderful experience and successful fundraiser, and a moment of breathing, for all of us working on this project.

Thanks to the Woods Inn and Matts Draft House for providing beverages, and thanks also to Jim Connerty for helping in a big way to make this happen tonight. We’re on target to make this an amazing happening and fundraiser for breast cancer!” said Connie Perry, co-chair of One Square Mile of Hope.

This Saturday, September, 13, over 3,000 people will gather in Inlet to re-take the Guinness World Record for “largest raft of canoes and kayaks.”

Almost a year ago the One Square Mile of Hope committee and Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks formed a partnership with two goals: set a new world record and raise over $100,000 for breast cancer research.

By this time next week, with a little cooperation from the weather, we are confident that both goals will have been met.
