Thank you everyone for welcoming us into your hearts and community

Dear neighbors, friends and family:

After a little over one year of meeting and greeting guests, Travis and I are faced with making a most difficult decision. It is with a heavy heart we will be closing the doors of The Knotty Pine after dinner service on October 11th for good until it is sold.

From the beginning, we were enthusiastic that we had what it took to own and operate a restaurant together.

A couple of hiccups here and there were to be expected. Travis and I thought we had laid out a prosperous plan to continue serving guests and the long-standing legacy of “The Pine” would continue.

As expected, updates and repairs were required as The Knotty Pine is an older building, but much more than anticipated within the first year.

A new set of stairs, a bedroom needing to be completely replaced, extensive roof repairs, kitchen flooring, plumbing and several other maintenance projects coupled with needing a great deal of new inventory to start, collectively depleted funds rapidly.

With a good summer and unexpected great winter, we believed The Knotty Pine would continue to succeed in 2014.

Unfortunately, with summer tourism drastically less than anticipated, we can no longer afford to keep the restaurant.

Our dream was to raise our young family in an active yet serene town full of neighbors everyone hopes to have.

Things to do and see, wonderful school, and a reasonable driving distance to visit family back in Binghamton, were all part of the dream.

Our family will be starting a new venture south in Virginia. We would like to thank you for welcoming us into your hearts and community. Best wishes and much success to all! We will miss you!

Truly, Travis and Kristen Fata
