Mike Cunningham, representing the Town of Webb Community Scholarship Fund, presented Morgan Payne with the Robert Hazard Scholarship on Wednesday, June 25 at Sisters Bistro in Old Forge.
The scholarship is awarded to a Town of Webb School graduate who has exhibited outstanding performance in art or music during their school career.
The award is named in honor of the late musician, Robert Hazard, an area resident who passed away in August 2008.
It is made possible by his wife, Susan Hazard-Rimato.
Morgan, who will graduate on Friday, June 27, has been a piano student for 11 years.
She plays piano in the school’s stage band, and alto saxophone in the senior band.
An aficionado of the performing arts, she had roles in the past three musicals at TOW School and served as a youth ambassador at the Stanley Theater of Utica the last two years.
The scholarship will assist her with her expenses as she enters Nazareth College in the fall to study Music Therapy.
Morgan is the daughter of Anne and Tom Payne of Old Forge.
