Prior to the finale, races were held in Long Lake, Indian Lake, Old Forge, and Inlet.

Cardboard Racing Champion Bob Lewin captured the title in the inaugural 2013 competition, but couldn’t outpace the LaPortes, who participated in all five races—including the races held on the same day in Indian Lake and Old Forge.

Racers scored points for first, second and third place finishes, 10 points for participating in each race and additional points for best decoration.

The LaPortes’ Military Police army jeep design was constructed completely of cardboard and bested competitors in speed, appearance and durability.

The LaPorte family traveled over 217 miles along NYS Routes 28 and 30 to participate in the regional race which was conceived and developed by the tourism departments of the towns of Long Lake, Inlet, Indian Lake and Webb.

Oak Mountain joined this year’s competition to make this a one-of-a-kind regional race connecting the towns of the Central Adirondacks.

Look for the Cardboard Racing Circuit in 2015! Rules will be announced in the fall.
