Kiwanis Winter Sports Challenge to benefit kids projects, Feb. 15th

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks will sponsor the 14th Annual Kiwanis Winter Sports Challenge at McCauley Mountain Ski Center on Saturday, February 15th.

The event is part of the Old Forge Winter Carnival and will include snowshoe and cross-country ski events.

There will be recreational 1K and 8K cross-country ski and snowshoe fundraising races and in cooperation with Mountain-man Outdoor Supply Company, there will also be an 8K New York State-USA Sanctioned Snowshoe Race. Course distances will be subject to snow conditions.

Proceeds of the Kiwanis Sports Challenge will benefit Kiwanis youth-oriented projects including operations of the Kommunity Youth Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge.

Kiwanis members are currently seeking Corporate Sponsors for the event. Corporate sponsorships are available at $200 Gold, $150 Silver and $100 Bronze. All sponsors will be mentioned in all event publicity.

You, your organization or company can create an event team and solicit individual sponsors for your participation in a one-mile or five-mile tour of the snowshoe, cross-country ski trails at McCauley.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the event will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Demo snowshoes will be provided through the cooperation of Mountainman Outdoor Supply and its vendors.

All who register will receive a raffle ticket for a door prize. The No. 1 fundraising team will receive a traveling plaque and permanent certificate and the No. 2 team will receive a permanent certificate.

The No. 1 fundraising individual will be awarded a permanent certificate and $50. In addition, the top fundraising individual, age 18 or under, will receive an award of $100.

The proceeds of the Kiwanis Winter Sports Challenge will be contributed to the Kommunity Youth and Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge.

Individual and team registration/pledge forms are available from Kiwanis members and at the Town of Webb Visitor Information Center.
