Nutcracker 2013: Casting begins for Old Forge Ballet production

Casting has begun for the Old Forge Ballet Company’s 2013 performance of the Nutcracker ballet which will be held at the Strand Theatre on Saturday, December 7th.

Company dancers welcome dancers and performers from the Adirondack community to complete the cast of Tchaikovsky’s two-act ballet.

Adults and teenage male and female performers are needed for Act 1, the Party Scene.

Children of all ages but particularly boys ages five years and older are needed for the Act 1 Battle Scene.

Dancers and participants who want to take more extensive roles may enroll in the School of the Old Forge Ballet Company for the fall term only.

Rehearsals are required with a fee of $35 per participant or $50 per family.

Community members who are interested in helping backstage and in pre-performance preparation are needed.

Help with costume construction and alterations, scene painting and construction, and technical support is appreciated.

A stage manager, stage hands, set-up and striking crew, and assistance in the dressing room and hair and makeup is also needed.

Performances on December 7 will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. at The Strand.

According to Artistic Director Sue Ann Lorenz-Wallace and Linda Lorenz LaDue, associate artistic director, the Nutcracker will possibly be performed at other venues in the north country as well
