Labor Day weekend: Plein Air Paint Out returning to Old Forge

More than 40 artists have registered to paint in and around the Town of Webb for View’s 5th Annual Plein Air Paint Out which will take place throughout Labor Day weekend.

Beginning on Friday, August 30, artists from all over New York and the north east will come to paint the scenes, landmarks and characters found in Old Forge and its surrounding communities.

By Saturday afternoon, many of the completed works will be on display at View. The public is invited to meet the artists at a Preview Tasting Party at View’s Gould Hall at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy Monk Rowe’s jazz duo while tasting beer and wine with light fare.

A silent auction for six decorated Adirondack chairs ends Saturday evening with the drawing of the winning bids. Tickets for the party are $15 for non-members and $10 for View members.

On Sunday, September 1, View will auction about 60 paintings donated by the plein air artists. The live fine arts auction begins at 5:30 p.m. with professional auctioneer John Gokey. Gould Hall will be open for a preview of the paintings starting at 4:30 p.m. dmission to the auction is free.

“This event offers an incredible opportunity to purchase original Adirondack paintings by some of the region’s best artists. The auction is a fun event and offers a great holiday shopping opportunity for the Adirondack lover in your family,” said Michele deCamp, chair of View’s Plein Air Paint Out Committee.
