VIEW: Watercolor Society exhibit opens

The Central New York Watercolor Society currently has a signature artists’ exhibition on display at View which features 72 paintings by 43 signature artists.

The exhibit is located upstairs in both workshop rooms and in the halls and is on display through September 2nd.

An artists’ reception on Friday, August 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. will be held in conjunction with the Old Forge First Friday Art Walk.

Many of the presenting artists will be in attendance.

The CNYWS aims to foster advancement of watercolor art by furthering the interest of painters in watermedia; to inform and educate the general public through exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations; and to encourage and promote its study by art students and others engaged in watercolor painting.

An artist must submit six paintings for review and vote by a Jury of Selection comprised of current society signature artists to achieve signature status in the CNYWS.

From Sunday, August 18  through Saturday, September 7, several members of the watercolor society will be giving half-day and full-day mini-workshops to demonstrate and teach many different styles of painting.

Registration is available by calling View at (315) 369-6411 or at ViewArts.org.
