Letter to the Editor: Sincerely and respectfully, I thank you all for the opportunity I’ve had to serve Webb

To the Editor:

I would like to thank those who worked with me on my campaign for Town of Webb Supervisor. I believe you supported me for the right reasons and I truly appreciate the effort.

A very special thank you to Valerie and Calvin. You believed in me and offered me a great deal of emotional support and effort. It meant a lot.

Thank you also to all those who voted for me in years past, allowing me the opportunity to serve on the Town Council for eight years.

I always tried to do my best and treat every person and every issue with fairness. It wasn’t always an easy job, but it was always an honor and a privilege.

Thank you. Continue reading

Letter to the Editor- Promise: Webb can do more, should do more in next two years

To the Editor:

I, Richard Risley, am a candidate for Town of Webb Supervisor and will appear at the bottom of the ballot on the “Have a Voice” independent line.

It is with pleasure that I have served two 4-year terms as your Town Councilman—terms that have encompassed 12 years of important Town of Webb issues.

Among those were ongoing concerns such as the TOBIE path, which includes the Eagle Bay Welcome Center; the East Side sewer pump station; Lock & Dam; and the navigation dock replacements.

Also the replacement of the North Street Pavilion and the Health Center roof.

As your Supervisor, I will improve local heath care, as the current model does not meet community needs.

The current staff is great, as are the doctors.

But today’s climate calls for improvement. Continue reading

Letter to the Editor: Richard Risley- Experienced, ready to serve as supervisor

To the Editor:

I’m Richard Risley, candidate for Town of Webb Supervisor in the Repub-lican Primary.

First, I have to say thank you to all the great folks who have offered support and words of encouragement since I first announced my candidacy on March 25th.

I have looked forward, without hesitation, to this campaign and discussing the issues that are important to the people of Webb.

What must be understood is my passion for my job as councilman and for the job of Supervisor. I love this town and all that it has to offer.

I was not asked to run for Supervisor. This is something I have been working towards since before I was first elected to the Town Council. I have had numerous conversations with many supporters on this very topic going back over 12 years. I never had the chance to ask my family if they would support this endeavor. When Supervisor Moore announced he would not be seeking re-election, my wife said, “Have you contacted the papers yet?”

As we look to the future, I believe that we, as elected officials, must strive to better serve our communities, and in doing so, make changes when and where appropriate. We must work together to put the people ahead of all else.

I have served as your Town Councilman for eight years, and another six on the Zoning Board of Appeals, two as its Chairman. During that time, I have gained a better understanding of not only our zoning issues, but tourism promotion, union contract negotiations, the bidding process for purchases and the operations at McCauley Mountain.

Combined with my 23 years in business and my decades of serving the community as an EMT and volunteer fireman, I am in the unique position to best serve the residents of the town of Webb.

I pledge to be open-minded, honest, and accessible. We will build upon our foundation and move Webb forward.

I’d sincerely appreciate your support in the Republican Primary on September 13th.

Letter to the Editor Richard Risley: Family- and community-minded, an ideal candidate for Town of Webb supervisor

To the Editor:

I have known Richard Risley for five years, have listened to his thoughts and opinions and have witnessed his dedication to the Town of Webb and its communities.

Richard’s qualities include a strong work ethic and set of family values. I encourage his bid for Town Supervisor.

I see Richard as someone able to separate friendship from duty and therefore able to do what is best for the community. He would not be swayed by friendship or threat and is not afraid to make a decision despite its popularity.

Richard follows through. If asked to research or resolve an issue, you can rest assured he will do just that. It will not be postponed or swept under the rug. Richard wants what is best for the community and will work for its benefit and that alone.

Richard understands budgets, expenditures, thus ensuring fiscal responsibility and the ability to maintain a positive bottom line for the town.

In conversations with him, it is obvious he respects his fellow Town Board members and would work with them hand-in-hand to enhance our town.

Richard expects accountability and responsibility from those around him, which increases the success rate of endeavors.

I find him to be open to new ideas and opportunities that will enrich the community without taking away from the small town comfort that is felt by all who reside here.
