Elementary and junior high school students at the Town of Webb School will be greeted by new English teacher Megan Plumley when school resumes on Wednesday, September 4th.

Plumley will teach sixth and seventh grade English, seventh grade reading, and kindergarten through eighth grade computer classes.

She says she has always had a love for teaching and is excited about starting the school year and meeting the students.

Plumley went to Mohawk Valley Community College and completed her undergraduate degree at SUNY Oneonta where she earned two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in English and the other in Adolescent Education.

She has one more semester until she completes her Master’s Degree in Education Technology and Emerging Media from Canisius College in Buffalo. She is completing that degree fully online.

Last year she taught sixth grade writing as a long term substitute teacher and did a semester of student teaching in English at the middle and high school at Adirondack Central School in Boonville.

She is very interested in technology and how to integrate it into the classroom.

“Now everything is digital and you need to be well trained in it to be college- and career-ready,” she said.

Plumley grew up and continues to live in Taberg. She is engaged to be married next year.

Having historical family roots in Long Lake, she said Old Forge is a great fit for her. She has done quite a bit of camping in the Adirondacks and enjoys fishing and waterfowl hunting.

Plumley’s official appointment is subject to school board approval at its Tuesday, September 4 meeting.
