Charity Go-Kart Race: Record-breaking funds raised at Calypso’s Cove

The 21st Annual Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race took place on Tuesday, September 9 with a record amount of money raised during this local charity event.

This year’s total raised was $13,300, exceeding last year’s record-breaking amount of $12,600. Benefactors One Square Mile of Hope and Kids T Off will each receive $6,650 through the effort. Continue reading

Charity Go-Kart Race raises $12,600 for Strand’s Digitalization Campaign

The 20th Annual Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race on Tuesday, September 12 raised $12,600 for this year’s single benefactor, The Strand Theatre’s Go Digital or Go Dark Campaign.

This year’s event broke last year’s record of $12,400 raised.

Thirty-four teams and 170 racers from Old Forge to Indian Lake competed for the coveted trophy in 51 races.

Admission fees of 300 spectators contributed to the overall amount of funds raised.

“The money was solely raised by community participation, which is a true accomplishment for the area,” said Katie Noonan of Enchanted Forest Water Safari, sponsor of the event.

First place in the race went to Dunn’s Boat Service with 33 points, followed closely behind was the Old Forge Camping Resort in second place with 32 points and third place went to Seventh Lake House with 29 points.

Old Forge: Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race marking its 20th year

The Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race, an annual event that has raised money for local businesses, organizations and those in need, is set for Tuesday, September 10th.

This is the 20th year of the community fundraising event which brings local businesses together to vie for the coveted trophy and assist local causes.

Since its inception in 1994, over $200,000 has been raised for such causes.

The Noonan family, hosts of the event, has announced that this year’s single recipient of funds will be the Save the Strand – Old Forge Go Digital or Go Dark campaign.  Continue reading

Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race raises $11,621 for local causes

The Noonan Family and the staff at Enchanted Forest/ Water Safari and Calypso’s Cove would like to thank all who participated and/or donated to make the 18th Annual Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race such an outstanding success.

Despite the bad weather on Tuesday night, we were able to complete the race on Wednesday night, and we’re thankful that so many could come back for a second night in a row!

We are thrilled to announce that a total of $11,621 was raised, with $5,810.50 being donated to MAC’s Safe Ride and $5,810.50 to the Polar Bear Ski Club! Continue reading

18th annual event Go-Karts to rev Tuesday for Calypso’s Cove charity race

Established in 1994, the Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race seeks to raise money within the community for local charities, organizations and families in need.

Since its inception, the Go-Kart race has raised over $170,000. This event brings local businesses together to vie for the coveted trophy and to work together as a community for worthy causes.

The 18th Annual Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race will take place on Tuesday, September 13. A rain date is set for Thursday, September 15.

The beneficiaries this year include the Friends of the Polar Bears, to aid their effort of purchasing a yurt for McCauley Mountain, and MAC’s Safe Ride, to aid in the effort to purchase a larger van.

All are encouraged to come out to the race and support the local community and these two worthy causes.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing to begin at 5:30 p.m. sharp. The entry fee for a team of five racers is $225. Each racer will drive in two heats.

The entry fee covers the cost of admission, food and beverage for the race team. Team leaders should send their check for $225 and a list of five racers to Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race, 3183 State Route 28, Old Forge, NY 13420.

The deadline for entry is 5 p.m. Monday, September 12, unless the team limit has been met.

Racers should call (315) 369-6145 to confirm postponement due to rain the day of the race.

Spectators will be admitted for a donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The donation includes food and beverage.
