The Tree

Trees are EVERYWHERE,

In abundance they thrive.

They purify the air we breathe,

To help us survive.

They provide shelter and food for the wildlife

And all of humanity.

The very foundation of our Earth,

Is the roots of the tree.

And better yet is the breathtaking scenes they make

Such as the woods that surround a pristine lake.

The evergreen Fir, majestic and tall,

That enhances a waterfall.

Be it LUMBER, TIMBER, KINDLING,

It’s wood.

Everything that involves a tree is good!

I am finally aware, it dawned on me,

That we ALL look up to the tree.

I don’t know about you, but I know about me,

I want to go out, and hug a tree.

Critters

My lawn is scarred with mounds of dirt

I’ve been told they were made by moles

I also have squiggly ridges

Could they have been made by voles?

I swear I’m harboring a prairie dog

My patience is sorely tested

Regardless of which critter it may be

I’ve had it with being molested

To Them

The snomobilers are happy

The Arctic temps they
do not fear.

The snow to them is like
the foam

That tops an ice cold beer.

P.S. If I have offended
anyone, I’ve lost my cool.

The Golden Years by Betty Harwood

Who labeled the age of 80 as Golden was out of their mind.

Those years are far from golden when you leave your youth behind.

We confront with each new day and struggle to survive.

We depend on medications to keep us alive.

I concentrate on hypnosis with its MIND over MATTER.

It works on minor aches and pains, but not with the bladder.

I’m trapped in the Golden Age along with my peers.

If you want my opinion (It’s simply):

SCREW THE GOLDEN YEARS

P.S. The older I get—my energy’s spent—my get up and go, got up and went.
