Card of thanks

I would like to thank the personnel of the Old Forge Fire Department and Ambulance Corp for the valiant efforts and help they provided to Diane and our family during our recent crisis. A special thanks to Dan Rivet and Father Shane Lynch—two men we are so fortunate to have living in our community.

It’s been said so many times before, but it is very true, we are so blessed to be part of such a caring and compassionate community.

Thank you to all for your calls, cards and kind words of support.

Sincerely,

Bob Desnoyers, Old Forge

LETTER: Support the Strand

To the Editor:

We are overwhelmed and impressed by the recent community support for the Strand Theatre’s digital conversion project. Organizations such as the CAA, Old Forge Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, Polar Bear Ski Club, CAP-21, View, TOW Historical Association, and Cousins that Care, to name just a few that come to mind, have stepped forward to physically and financially support this project. Such efforts illustrate how important the Strand is to the communities that make up the Central Adirondacks.  Continue reading

Bravo to Alan Saban and View for bringing the international jazz trio to Old Forge!

The performance by the International Jazz Trio last Friday was one of the best jazz shows we’ve been to. We have been going to jazz gigs since Pat was 17 and even when you reverse those numbers, we’re older than that! We hope they return.

Everyone waited in line after the show to purchase their CD. The pianist will be performing at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City for the next two weeks.

We encourage everyone who enjoys music and theater performances at View to contribute to the fund for the purchase of quality sound equipment so View doesn’t have to rent it for first class performances.

John and Pat Tappan,

Okara Lake
