Webb summer sports programs coming to end

Town of Webb summer recreation programs will be wrapping up in the next couple of weeks, according to Webb Recreation Director Sara Alves.

Webb Police Dept. reports recent activity

Town of Webb Police Chief John Russell reported the following activities over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

• A Plattsburgh couple and a two-year-old child escaped injury when their vehicle was hit by a trailer carrying a sailboat on Route 28 on Friday, July 5 at approximately 4 p.m.

According to Chief Russell, Sean and Rebecca Conklin were traveling southbound when the northbound trailer being hauled by James Blasland of Liverpool, NY came loose just north of the highway department garage.

The sailboat came off the trailer and struck the vehicle, taking the car roof off, Russell said.

Chief Russell reported that the Conklins saw the sailboat coming their way and were able to duck.  Continue reading

IMG_3418****The Town of Webb Historical Association’s annual benefit auction took place on Saturday, July 6 at the Goodsell Museum in Old Forge.

According to Museum Director Kate Lewis, all of the 210 lot items received bids during the auction. One of the top lot items was a picture of the Old Forge lakefront taken from the Forge House in 1915. Another popular item was a three-person canoe with a built in cooler and cupholders. Town of Webb Board of Education holds June 18th meeting

The Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m., where it took the following action (not official minutes).

Approved the Minutes of June 4, 2013 meeting.

Approved the Warrants and Claims.

Approved the Treasurer’s Report for May 2013.

Approved the Committee on Special Education Recommenda-tions.

Town of Webb board of education holds February 5th meeting

The Town of Webb Union Free School District Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m., where it took the following action (these are not the board’s official minutes).

Public Forum: General Education Work Experience Program was the topic of discussion. Several parents and a student addressed the board regarding the program and future course offerings. A Community member expressed his support of the educational program currently offered and its need to be funded fully for our students even during tough budget years.

The Board of Education took the following action:

• Approved the Minutes of January 22, 2013 regular meeting.

• Approved the Warrants and Claims.

• Appointed the following:

Therá Levi as Substitute Cafeteria Worker at $9/hour.

Therá Levi as Substitute Cleaner at $9/hour.

Therá Levi as Substitute Teacher Aide at $9.75/hour.

Nicole Sieczkowski as Substitute Teacher at $70/day.

Nicole Sieczkowski as Substitute Teacher Aide at $9.75/hour.

• Approved the Committee on Special Education Recommendations.

• Accepted the resignation of Caitlyn Goodwin as teacher aide effective March 1, 2013.

• The Educational Technology Teacher position is abolished effective June 24, 2013.

• Appointed Mallory Sullivan as Long Term Substitute effective February 5 – June 24, 2013.

Special Topics: 

The Board discussed the 2013-2014 Budget. Preliminary expenses and revenues were discussed.
