LETTER: Route 28 TOBIE not so wonderful

Dear Editor:

I was glad to see the letter by Mrs. Moore explaining why they changed the location of the TOBIE trail from Birch St. to Rt. 28 because the property owners were opposed to it. Evidently they were informed that it was proposed to be located there, but the property owners along Rt. 28 were not, so how could they be opposed.

I am also grateful to be informed how lucky I am to have this wonderful enhancement to the community going through the front of my business.

I can’t wait until January to see all the hikers strolling down the trail in their boots, dodging the six-foot snow banks at 20 below.

I just hope no one gets hit by a snow plow.

Hundreds of cyclists are gearing up to compete in the 18th Annual Black Fly Challenge bike race that will begin with a shotgun start in Indian Lake on Saturday, June 8th.

The intense 40-mile race takes riders through the Moose River Recreation Area to the finish line in Inlet. Every year, the Black Fly Challenge brings visitors to the area from across the country, including over 500 racers, their families and friends.

Thanks to Mohawk Valley GIS, this year’s participants can now download a free smart phone application at NYRECWebMap.com that will work without cell phone reception and provide riders with maps and information about their trek.

Last year’s event saw a number of records being broken including the best men’s and women’s finishing times. Continue reading
