Old Forge: Crew Finishes Rebuilding of First Navigation Dock at Lakefront

The work on the new Navigation Dock at the Old Forge Lakefront was completed on Tuesday, June 28, just in time for area 4th of July festivities.

Replacement of the old dock was assisted by a $24,000 grant from the New York State Division of Coastal Resources Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan that was earmarked for the engineering costs.

The grant award, which was administererd by CAP-21, was announced in November 2008.

Town of Webb Supervisor Robert Moore said that $175,000 was budgeted for the entire project, which included replacing a small section of paver stones along the boardwalk.

“We’re very grateful to Waldron Construction of Raquette Lake who constructed the dock, and to our Department of Public Works personnel for the ground work that needed to be done,” he said.

“They really spruced things up in time for the 4th of July and for this weekend’s Antique Boat Show.”
