NYS boater safety courses set for Inlet and Raquette

New York State Boater Safety Courses will be held in Inlet and Raquette Lake in the upcoming weeks.

The NYS Boater Safety Certificate is required for operators ages 10 to 17 operating solo, and mandatory for all PWC operators from ages 14 to adult. Many insurance companies offer discounts with proof of certificate.

The first eight-hour course will be held at the Inlet Town Hall on Friday, June 29 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, June 30 from 2 to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.Another course will take place at the Raquette Lake Fire Department on Friday, July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, July 14 from 2 to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to noon Students must attend all three sessions for certification.

Registration is available by calling (315) 723-9041. The fee for adults  is $10 and there is no charge for participants under the age of 18. The course is open to youth (ages 10 and up) and adults.

There is no cost to attend but advance registration is required.

Registrations will be accepted up to July 3 or until the class fills up.
